Hey! We had exactly the same problem, but I read so many good reviews on the BT 150 Baby monitor that I had to buy it. It has great reception, picks up virtually any sounds and has numerous other functions such as night light, temperature, music and walky talky function. Thoroughly recommend it.
We got the Angel Care. As a first-time mum I wasn't sure which monitor to buy - this one came recommended by our neighbours. There are so many types of baby monitors on the market but this one stands out from the rest. The movement sensor pad gives that extra peace of mind that I think all parents prefer. There are various settings which can be adjusted to suit your own requirements. Currently, we have ours set to the least sensitive option which still picks up every movement perfectly. We also have the monitor set on a constant beep which indicates our baby is breathing. You can switch the beeping off and it is still effective though. I just like that extra reassurance at night. Make sure you adjust the sensiblity setting of the motion detection after first installation (or moving to other bed) to prevent false alarms or misfunction, but we never had any problems with that. I guess we had about 3 'false alarms' because the kid positioned itself in a position that it could not be detected anymore. But that only confirms that the system is working perfectly and beats the endless checking and worrying when not having an Angelcare any time!
Salut Isa, As it turns out we've use both of the monitors recommended above. The Angelcare was quite good for detecting the presence or lack of movement... including breathing movement. However what we didn't like of the Angelcare was the sound quality of the monitor. The BT 150 is actually the one we use as it's got very good sounds quality and as gabi203 mentions above it comes packed with features. However if I was to get one today I'd probably choose one like the MOTOROLA MBP33 which not only has a nice screen to look at your baby but it includes night vision so that you can see her at night. Only problem is that it's quite an expensive model. So for a good all rounder that is reasonably priced I'd recommend the BT 150
Good question and not an easy one to answer Isabela. All the ones recommended above are good monitors. At the end of the day you have to decide what's more important of you. Sound quality, video quality, distance of reception..etc...etc. Small thing which I think you should make sure you include is does it have a clip? My husband loves our monitor because he can easily clip it to his belt whilst moving around the apartment. The one I recommend is the new BT one (the big brother of the 150). It's called the BT Digital Baby Monitor and Pacifier. I love this monitor. The reception is crystal clear and you can even hear your baby breathe! It has a light show which is quite basic with slow fades and it spans across the ceiling, but our baby loves it regardless. The songs are not too bad although i only really play the lullabies. The ability to control the lightshow/music/nightlight etc from the parent unit is a great idea and prevents too many trips upstairs to turn the music back on if your little one hasn't settled. The battery life is good although we keep it on charge during the night anyway. Hope it has helped you Isabela and not made your choice much harder :-)
Thank you all for your detailed and very helpful answers, I'll settle for the new BT Digital Baby Monitor.
