I've just recently made a list on a very simple way to baby proof your home which you can have a look at if you like? It does also depend on what kind of oven you have, if you have stairs, if you want to hide away things like the DVD player, etc. I'd start with the basics like plug covers, table corners and cleaning material cupboard locks. Door jams are very good too, especially when they learn how to open and close doors. Good luck!

A stair gate serves us well and is a must-have but we also find door catches important in the kitchen to prevent access to all the cleaning products and the knife drawer.

Don't forget to make sure flat screen TVs are stuck down or secured to a wall as they make great climbing frames!

Baby proofing our house has involved so far: 3 stairgates (prevent kitchen access, climbing up the stairs from lounge and safety in Noahs bedroom), I have the TV on the wall above the fireplace and all electronic gadgets on a high shelf, well away from the little man. My lounge is quite big, so I have been fortunate, but I have basically split it in to 2 areas: adults and toddler. His half has toys, ball pools etc etc, I have turned the radiators down, locks on the understairs cupboard, hidden plug holes away from him etc. All his toys are in low level boxes on shelves and adulty drawers are high up (well out of his reach). The fireplace isnt used, so I do not need to worry about coal or Noah hurting himself with the heat etc, but we keep the dog beds infront of the fireplace to prevent Noah from wanting to go near it as other people may use their fireplaces etc. The only current hazard I have is that Noah climbs onto an armchair and onto the windowsill, where he pretends to be a dog or a cat. I have removed everything off of the windowsill - so he cannot get anything and we are learning "NO" to stop from climbing up there... which doesn't always work as you can probably imagine.

Corner covers, stair gates, fire guards, plug covers and fridge and cupboard locks were essential for us x

My two are into everything, I have the works in my house. Stair gates, cupboard locks, corner cushions, blind cord ties, window locks, chain on the door. It's like a prison in our house. ;-)
