I used and still use a muslin cloth. It protects much more than the hard plastic bibs and can be gently tied around the neck and then tucked under baby. You could use a regular bib and put a muslin over baby's lap?
I worship the bibetta bib. They aren't wipe-clean but can go in the washing machine and we are still using ours at nearly 3 years old.
I have to agree with jumblymummy. We're about to start weaning so i've invested in the Bibetta bibs too. They're durable, machine washable and great value for money. Whats more you can also purchase one with sleeves that protects the sleeves of their clothes xxx
The biggest one you can find! We have bibs that cover the entire front, and have sleeves with elastcated wrist bits. It means I can let Dylan get as messy as he likes and he will still be clean underneath. They are machine washable too.
