Right, little man is 18 months & starting to test Mummys patience!! He has started slapping when he is held in your arms, also mealtimes are a little bit of a nightmare as he throws food around the room and generally "creates" - any top tips for mealtimes and the slapping scenario would be really appreciated!
Our little girl is the same age of your little man and she's going through a similar phase, even biting at times. What works for us, most of the time, is when she slaps or bites we don't give any reaction to her. We make sure that we don't even look at her when she does that. After a few times of doing that she eventually stopped for at least a few days if not weeks. She does try it again from time to time but we reapply this approach and it usually works. As for food throwing, we luckily don't have this problem at this stage... but knowing her it's probably just around the corner.
My little girl is 16 months and is getting to that stage, in fact she just threw a massive paddy over a colouring book! I try and distract her as much as I can, but sometimes she ds have to cry to learn that no means no.
Naughty corner. As soon as he slaps give a warning if again put in naughty corner. Always worked for my little girl! As for meal times, ignore pay no attention and he will soon realise that no-one is paying attention so will stop xx
